Continued Adventures in Animation

Coyote Vs. Acme is a delightful movie. And it’s really fun watching a movie that just completely revels in the cartoons I grew up with right now as I’m starting out with making my own cartoons.

I’ve made seven music videos in the last three days, and my spouse is trying to talk me down from insisting I have to start another one before going to bed…

It would be one thing if I were making all of these music videos and didn’t have anything else going on, but I also got hit with several other time-sensitive, important projects this week… so… yeah, I definitely started the eighth music video instead of going to bed.

“Techno Babel” is a technological Tower of Babel meets Flowers for Algernon in the cheerful claymation style of Peewee’s Playhouse and glowing 80s-style CGI of Tron.

If that sounded like gibberish, just go find and watch the video. (It’s very accurate.)

You wouldn’t think a parking garage arm and elevator would make good main characters for a music video, but in this colorful, cheerful claymation style, they’re pretty adorable.

Pixar’s never gotten into the mind and feelings of a parking garage arm!

At a high level, I’ve been predicting for about a year that I’d be making music videos right now. But at a more granular level, I had no idea four days ago that I’d now be spending hours every day watching musical cartoons of my stories and taking notes on everything to improve.

“Black Swans” is about the concept of a black swan — an unpredictable event that changes everything.

And I love the way the crayon-drawn black swans in the video come crashing into the monochrome, more photo-realistic scene, bringing color and excitement with them, completely rewriting the world.

They could be a metaphor for a lot of things, but to me, it’s about AI.

My story, “Not Spider-Man and the Seven Angel Donors,” lampoons copyright law and corporate dystopia, and the video is animated in a Monty Python-esque style. It was called a “good story” by Neil Gaiman (yes, I know, but it’s my biggest claim to fame).

Well, I completely used up my Claude tokens on making videos this last week.

The line between working really hard, like to the point where you might burn out, and doing basically nothing at all is confusingly thin right now.
